2010.05.14 Friday Under Construction

 ARGHHH
ACTUALLY I WAS UPLOADING ANOTHER TAIWAN POST THE OTHER DAY.....
AND THEN SAFARI HANGED
AND I LOST EVERYTHING
GRRRRR!!UGH!

2010.04.13 Tuesday TAIWAN TRIP 2010

This blog post shall be dedicated to my Taiwan trip with CF, Deb and MW, from 21st to 26th March 2010. (Seriously, we should've stayed there longer! )

General Info (if you want to visit Taiwan anytime soon):
- Our Free n Easy trip included a day tour (paid NT$300 each for the tips)
- We booked our trip with a local tour agency and paid around SGD$950, including airport tax and all.  (China Airlines, stayed in 3 star hotel near a famous shopping district known as "Ximending 西門町" )
- The currency conversion was around SGD$1 = NT$22. (Change in Taiwan Airport would be better, SGD$1 = NT$22.8. Btw there aren't many money exchangers that are willing to change SGD in Taiwan)
- Spent around SGD$700 there. That's more than enough unless you're a hardcore shopper that goes for brands.
- Better bring a variety of clothes and a wind-breaker. The temperature varies alot day-to-day. On the 3rd day, the temperature was 27°C and on the 5th Day, the temperature was 14°C (the wind was super chilly)!

Okay, here it goes!
DAY 1:
Our flight was about 1025, so we had to reach the airport around 8am?
Woke up around 6am and did some relay calling IN CASE someone doesn't wake up thn GG . Reached the airport around 8 plus.
Ate breakfast with MW and her family, while Deb and CF went in first. Woohoo~, the biometric system really makes the whole process MUCH FASTER!
Didn't have much time to shop inside the airport, so we just went straight to the boarding place and boarded the China airline plane.
Listened to some Yuzu songs on board. They had the whole "WONDERFUL WORLD" album!
However the ride wasn't that nice. Felt like an air-roller coaster. There was once when everyone in the cabin was like "WOOAA!!"when the plane was landing, damn scary.
The food sucked too. Didn't finished it.  But nvm....
WOO HOO TAIWAN  HERE WE COME!

LOL i think this photo of Deb is damn epic! There's a reason why i put tt crayon shinchan's butt-revealing animation

Didn't have any photo of 4 of us together on the plane

Reached Taoyuan Airport around 2-3 plus i think. All 3 of them took some time to change money there because the rate was too good compared to Sg's.
After we got back our luggages, the land transfer man was already waiting for us, holding a paper with our names. There were also 2 other girls (probably Singaporeans) waiting for us. We told him to wait a moment while we went to buy a phone card and get our youth pass. Quite paiseh cz we took quite long and apparently the 2 girls sat on the same plane as us. MEANS WE SPENT TOO LONG CHANGING MONEY.

Oh yeah, when we went out of the airport and waited for the bus, guess what? WE WERE GREETED BY A SANDSTORM AFTERMATH! Apparently there was a sandstorm a day before. How suey was that....

I didn't do anything to the photo. The haze was really due to the sandstorm.

The ride to our hotel was around 40min-1hour if i never rmb wrongly. Our hotel (Royal Castle Hotel) was near the famous XI MEN DING (西門町) district. (Around 10 mins non-stop walk)
Just as always, Taiwan has alot of convenient stores. Just come out of our hotel and you can find one about 20m away? Across the street there's another, and another etc etc. DAMN convenient.

After we reached our hotel, we walked to the Ximending MRT Station and bought the Taipei Metro card. (Much like our ez-link card)
Their MRT is almost EXACTLY the same as Sg's, if not even better.  People there are more polite IMO, they'll queue up in the lines drawn on the floor before they board on the MRT.

Everyone queuing up to board the MRT (Btw these are random MRT pics, not taken in Ximending)

Inside the MRT during peak hours. The photo on the right shows CF, MW and Deb all engrossed in watching some Backstreet boys dance vid

Typical layout of the Taipei MRT. Very similar to that of Sg's. The only differences are probably having lesser seats, having some seats facing the front instead and almost everything there is in Chinese? Like duh~

On a long long MRT ride to Danshui on Day 5

Okay back to the main topic of Day 1....
We wanted to go to Taipei 101, so we sat to Taipei City Hall Station and walked there. Not much directions were required cz erm.... it's like quite a prominent building. (Used to be the tallest building in the world)

During our walk to Taipei 101, there were lots of nice christmas-like decorations....

....and cool cartoon-like stuff.

And so we reached TAIPEI 101! These photos totally shows how bad the sandstorm was. So we didn't went up to the viewing section since we probably wouldn't be able to see a thing.

Bad bad sandstorm (even the camera lens became blurred)

After taking lots of photos of Taipei 101 (we were taking the same thing over and over again), we finally went INSIDE to have dinner. The food there weren't cheap and were so-so only. Shared a tempura thingy with Minwei (almost forgot to pay lol) and drank some fruit juice.  There's a "MARKETPLACE" there too, but we didn't went inside.

The foods that we ate in Taipei 101. The tempura is the photo on the top left. CF n Deb also shared some LU RUO FAN (braised pork rice?) and an apple yakult drink.

After that, we got out of Taipei 101. Undecided where to go, Deb and CF attempted to play catching or something

Then we decided to take a group photo, so we asked this father of 2 young children to help us take. His children (an sister and her younger brother) were DAMN CUTE, when he was trying to take the photo, suddenly the children ran in and said they wanted to be in the photo. The girl even tried to shove her face into my butt    Oh well, the photo is with Minwei and she hasn't uploaded anything yet. Tsk!

After that, we walked to some random building's Eslite (a very huge bookstore) and spent quite sometime there. Bought Minna and Vivi since these magazines are like HALF-PRICE there compared to those in Sg!
Minwei was the most OMG,, she bought around 5, 6 books i think. Her paper bag even broke and i had to lend her my recycling bag

It was around 10-11 when we got back to our hotel. As we had requested for a connecting room earlier, there was only ONE toilet. SIAN DAO~~ So CF would be there hurrying us to bathe LOL. In the end all of us slept quite late i think? Because of the BIG BIG PLASMA TV WITH 100+ CHANNELS in one of the rooms (MW's and Mine)
Oh yeah, the room which i shared with MW had very bad fengshui. Half of the mirror was facing half of the bed directly! AND NO WINDOWS!!  I quickly went to occupy the part of the bed which wasn't facing the mirror LOL . MW was like "TSK! Y U LIDDAT.... nvm" . In the end, i placed our bags on the makeup table and even borrowed some long bag from CF to cover the mirror

Okay, shall upload about other days soon! Bye cycleSSS!!

2010.02.14 Sunday HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR :D

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!
虎年快乐!
It's like 12.54a.m now, the first 54 minutes of the Tiger Year. Haven't blogged for quite sometime already. Well basically, i've been working hard (i guess?) for the past two weeks being a..... CASHIER  (temp only). Sounds sad but whatever, at least i've earned some money and fulfilled my childhood ambition of pressing that cash register (i actually wanted to be a cashier because of that) HA!  No regrets man. I've also acquired quite a few useful skills too.
One of them is to be able to recognise all the fruits & veges. Some F&V don't have barcodes , so i'll have to know them and memorize all their numbers to weigh/key them into the cash register.
For e.g, all of the 3 veges below used to look the same to me , but now, i know their differences already BOHAHAHAHA!!

I also know how a squash marrow, waishan (or wadeva the name is), chokos, pineapple flower prayer....etc looks like now. i can't say that i'm already a pro in recognising all the F&Vs, but at least i'm better than before.

The next one isn't really a skill, it's more like anexperience. I'VE EXPERIENCED THE LIFE OF A BLUE-COLLARED WORKER, and the feeling is something that you'll have to go through to understand. i've experienced that feeling to the max while going for the one-day training at Aljunied there. The look that everyone on the road (i'm assuming that most of them are blue-collared cz they were going to the industrial areas) had on their faces, the pace of their footsteps was just arrghh.  Working as a blue-collared is not really total siansness, but it's not fun too. You'll feel like you're worthless, yet you're not. You know that nothing interesting would happen. I can't really describe the feeling in words .... but this experience would be valuable. I know that how difficult it is to drag myself to work  (different feeling of dragging myself to school) and hopefully this would motivate me to study harder and treasure my current lifestyle more.

I've also been thinking why is the service in Singapore so much lower compared to other countries.
My conclusion: Singaporeans prefer efficiency. Don't get me wrong, efficiency is also a form of good service. Maybe its just sometimes we don't bother to greet with the wide grin and use formal sentences. (Not to forget that we have to know whether the person understands our language )  While being a cashier, i've experienced times when the customer just put coins and walked away. YES, THEY JUST WANT THE QUEUE TO END ASAP . (Note: this doesn't apply to those gift wrapping or wadeva services that don't have to deal with super long queues!)
However, i don't mean the service in the following video is okay.
Don't smile super widely is fine, but the auntie didn't need to sound so fierce. It's like as if she'll hit the customer if there's another special request .  They're also damn impatient. This is what i call BAD SERVICE.

I've also been going for Relief Teaching  at a nearby pri. sch. And the worse scenario arrived when a student almost recognised me while i was on-duty as a Cashier!!
Student A: *Stares* Do you work here?
Me: *Stares back and act blur" Yea, do i know you?
Student A: Did you go to ABC Pri. sch?
Me: No, but my sis does. (obviously i was lying)
Student A: OOHHH! I see.... your sister taught us the other day!

Super malu initially , but i managed to pull through it BOHAHAHAHA!!

A few days also, i've finally started to clean up my table! I haven't cleaned it for 2 years LOL.
This is how messy my table is during the holidays, and i've already removed some stuff from it
DISGUSTING DEAD BUG EWWWW! This really proves that i haven't cleaned up my table for ages!

i've bought these 2 books about 2 plus years ago and.....

until now, i've only read this much.  Reading makes me fall asleep.

It makes me wanna laugh  when i know that i still keep these things....

My lower sec. notebook

My Pri. sch big exercise book  (but not P5 and P6)

Some random History stuff

I drew this for some History assignment.
Seriously, I CAN'T DRAW!

This is probably an SEQ, so unpredictable

This was a Biology journal which we were supposed to write like 3 things that we've learnt for every lesson. At first, i only wrote 3 sentances but my teacher (she was a great teacher btw) commented that i should write it longer....
So, i wrote it longer....
But she wanted more....
....and so i wrote 3 long paragraphs

The reason why i dropped Higher Chinese

Crap this brings back bad memories ! This was a "私涵" (si han - a Chinese personal informal letter)
The question was about writing to a friend who had low self-esteem because of her looks. I used a super informal tone (because i thought that was the whole point) and wrote something like how dangerous plastic surgery is and my "friend" may end up looking like MJ (no offense), and threatening her that i'll not befriend her anymore if she does something like that. My Higher Chinese teacher criticize the essay, read it out to the whole class and everyone was like laughing, INCLUDING MYSELF BECAUSE I FORGOT THAT I WAS THE ONE WHO WROTE IT. WTF!

My proud sticker collection

LOL I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I GOT HOLD OF THESE HUANZHU GEGE AND MEDIACORP "HE XIAN GU" STICKERS!

Even mediacorp "he xian gu" stickers have better quality than these popped up stickers

I can't believe that i actually wrote this....
....and pasted these on the SAME sticker book!

Okay, that's all for now. 祝大家在这虎年里开开心心,身体健康和万事如意!!
Bye cycleSSS!!

2010.01.21 Thursday JOBLESS

 JOBLESS AGAIN
Actually i was "fired" before i even started working. How can she break the promise like that? Assuring us that we've got that job already then suddenly a day before work, called in the evening and "asked" me if i want to work in the warehouse. Then i said "What about Customer Svc?". She replied "Oh FULL LIAO." WTF. Means either i gotta work in the warehouse (super long hours, and being a sexist she doesn't seem to want to hire girls in the warehouse despite it's just paperwork.... I OVERHEARD HER CONVERSATION WITH ANOTHER GUY WHILE SHE WAS TALKING TO ME ON THE PHONE AND MADE ME WAIT FOR ABOUT 10 MINS UNTIL I HUNG UP MYSELF AND CALL HER BACK) or I won't get a job. That's not ASKING.
When i called her back, she RUDELY said that she was busy and if i want the job or not, call her the next day.
I called her the next day and guess what? THE NUMBER IS UNAVAILABLE!!

(FFFF I EVEN REJECTED A BUKIT BATOK ADMIN CZ I THOUGHT I'VE GOT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE JOB!!)

DAMNIT!

2010.01.11 Monday Happy 2010!!

又老了一岁了。。。。。
大家新年快乐!
HAPPY NEW YEAR  (although it's already 11th Jan)

I haven't been updating for ages partly because i was too lazy and didn't have to mood to do so. The start of the year wasn't really going well for me cz I was too preoccupied with the fact that I must find a temp. job ASAP. Why? Because i need to pay for Taiwan trip and be able to buy the things i'll want but Dad will kill if i bought it with his money. Been scammed to even go on the streets and sell $10 cards at a DIFFERENT PAY from the one assured  and knew some eww facts.
But who cares? I FINALLY FOUND A JOB!
I'll be a Customer Service person at some hamper company till CNY. The good thing about this is that I won't have to approach people one-by-one, give them the pitiful face and beg them to buy. (That was really quite stupid )  This time, people will approach me instead BOHAHAHAHA!! This job is more about answering to customer's enquiries and taking down their orders. Guess that I'll be really busy till CNY's over.
Also, I'll be learning to drive WOOS! Just signed up with Crappers CF, MW, Deb and Abi today at Bukit Batok Driving Centre. Can't wait for the day when i really know how to drive on the road mans .... though i'll probably be those kayu drivers that people always curse.
Another thing worth congratulating is that we've (CF,MW,Deb and Abi) been meeting up pretty often.  We met up at Orchard (few times), Sci Centre and BBDC recently. It's almost like I'm seeing them every 2 weeks! Cool.
Oh yeah, take a look at this. One of the worse human jams that I've ever experienced.

The reason? It was raining heavily so everyone decided to walk inside and jammed up the whole place.  But i still don't get why MUST they get to an underground shelter. [FYI, CF,MW,Deb,Abi & I wanted to walk to some specific place via this underground pass, not because we knew of the rain]

Okay, guess that's all for now.
Bye cycleSSS!!

2009.12.20 Sunday Last day of being Seventeen

It kinda sucks knowing that i'm growing older soon :'(

2009.12.13 Sunday THE QUIZ SHOW 2

It has been a while since i last introduced a drama thoroughly. Since i'm damn free now, i shall recommand one cool dorama which i've just finished watching recently....
THE QUIZ SHOW 2! (Za Quizushou)

Kamiyama Satoru is suffering from amnesia after waking up from a 6-year comma two years ago. He's being imprisoned by a director, Honma Toshio, who seems to understand Kamiyama's past very well and is anxious to have Kamiyama remember everything.

(Kamiyama Satoru as potrayed by Sakurai Sho from Arashi)

(Honma Toshio is acted by Yokoyama Yu from Kanjani8)
Honma forced Kamiyama to become the MC for a programme called "THE QUIZ SHOW", where participants have to answer 7 MCQs to win a huge sum or money. After clearing all 7 questions, participants can then opt to take part in "Dream Chance", where they have to attempt a last question. If they manage to clear the last question, the TV Station would fulfil their dreams for them.
The tricky part is that Honma would twist the questions which would somehow force the participants to reveal their darkest secrets [on television, LIVE 1-HOUR BROADCAST!!] and this usually results in the downfall of their careers or reputations.
Of course the production team would be unhappy with Honma, but he has this powerful backup which always allow him to continue broadcasting this show.
As the show continues, it seems like Honma has a certain motive that has is related to Kamiyama....

Sorry i'm really bad with words. Maybe these pictures would do a better introduction.

Every episode usually starts off like this:
Kamiyama Satoru is being seen trapped in a small room.

And Honma would be visiting him, giving him particular information about the day's participant and....

Threatening him to remember his past asap

Then Kamiyama would follow him to the studio

The studio looks like this: [taken from THE QUIZ SHOW 2 OFFICIAL SITE]

After that, Kamiyama Satoru transforms into the confident "MC Kamiyama"!

The participant would have been invited to "THE QUIZ SHOW" by this guy who works for Honma (and he's like to only one who knows about Honma's secret)

MC Kamiyama would then explain the rules of "THE QUIZ SHOW" to the participant and ask him/her for his/her dream. (E.G "I WANT A WORLD TOUR")

The questions would start of easy initially and when the tricky questions appear, MC Kamiyama would start to force the answers out of the participant with a sarcastic tone, causing him/her to panic....

but he/she would still ultimately attempt the dream chance since he/she wants the dream to be fulfilled

At times when the participant is unable to answer, he/she will be allowed to use the "Secret Technique" (similar to the 3 helplines in "Who Wants To Be a Millionare") and they sort of end up summoning a person who'll appear in the programme and give the secret away

Watching the whole programme and yet feeling helpless, some of the people in the crew would start thinking that the whole programme has gone out of hand and start blaming Honma....

especially the producer

Then Honma would ignore all of their warnings and rebut them back (Since he has an unknown and powerful backup, duh!)

Sometimes, a girl (part of the crew) would ask Honma some questions (like how did he managed to solve the sudden problem which emerged during the programme....etc) The girl also managed to observe the suspicious relationship between Kamiyama and Honma, and began to research about their backgrounds.

The last scene is usually about Kamiyama trying to recall about his past in the small room again while screaming in pain. This time, he'll be able to remember some scenes and coincidentally, he seemed to have seen the participants somewhere.....

For more information about this dorama, visit dramawiki.

P.S: i'm only introducing Season 2 because i haven't watched Season 1 and it's not really closely linked. (almost the whole cast is changed)

Okay, that's all for now. Bye cycleSSS!!

2009.12.11 Friday Random boredom

So many things to do
yet don't know which to start with
so end up SUPER FREE

So here i am, sharing some lame videos from youtube.

Arashi's "We Can Make It" PV somehow just fits with the High School Musical Song (almost naturally, esp. at timing 2.59-3.01 there)

This is sad. Ohno got mistaken for a girl =.=". Reminded me of a distant relative who's a boy and someone commented on him "this girl looks like a boy!"

A REAL MANNEQUIN (The girl is actually paid to be a mannequin!!)
Talking about part-time jobs....

A funny Thai CM about Smooth E facial foam (i like the fact that it doesn't focus on the product )
The OST reminds me "Yu Jian"

The CM "The Quiz Show 2"
SUPER NICE DRAMA.
Would further elaborate it next time

Okay it's 4.13AM now and i hav piano at 10am. Bye cycleSSS!!
